Veronica Campbell Brown fails Doping Test

-

Veronica Campbell Brown
ack and field community has been rocked by reports Jamaica's track star Veronica Campbell-Brown has tested positive for a banned substance. In fact I myself am having tremendous difficulty writing this. It would be one of the biggest doping violations to hit the sport in recent history.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Campbell-Brown's A sample tested positive for a diuretic, which acts as a masking agent, at the Jamaica Invitational meet on May 4.

It's understood she travelled to Montreal, Canada with her management team on Thursday ahead of the B sample results, which confirmed the positive finding yesterday.

The International Association of Athletics Federations is expected to make an announcement early next week. It's fair to say we will be waiting with baited breath for this very announcement.

There has been no word yet from the athlete's camp.

#VCB as she is affectionately called is one of Jamaica's most decorated female sprinters. She first garnered international acclaim in 2004 when she won gold at the 2004 Games in Athens and four years later in Beijing. the track star has a total of seven Olympic medals and nine world championship medals.

Since the news broke there has been mixed reaction from the social media:
