Usain Bolt, Allyson Felix, David Rudisha: Hot events to watch at Herculis Diamond League

Usain Bolt
Men’s 100m: Usain Bolt will run his third 100m race of the season. Following the world leading time posted by Asafa Powell, Bolt will seek to better his season best of 10.91. However, he will be challenged by his compatriots Nesta Carter and Michael Frater, who’ve been impressive all season. France's sprint prodigy Christophe Lemaitre will also be in the mix. Lemaitre has taken every opportunity to go up against the big guns and is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. Europe is expecting great things from this young man; maybe this race will give us a glimpse of what he could do in Daegu.

Women's 200m: Triple world champion Allyson Felix faces a strongfield which includes U.S national champion Shalonda Solomon and Carmelita Jeter. Solomon’s 22.15 happens to be the fastest time posted this season. Felix who is the US champion in the 400m has dedicated much of her season to the longer distance. This race will give us an idea of where she is at in the 200m. Watch for world bronze medalist Kerron Stewart and Bahamian Debbie Ferguson McKenzie who add quality to an already deep field.
David Rudisha

Men's 800m: World record holder David Rudisha will be in a action this Friday, Rudisha who remains unbeaten over the two-lap race is up against fellow Kenyan 19 year old David Mutinda Mutua, the only one in the line -up to come close to Rudisha's quickest time this year of 1:43:46. Watch for American Nick Symmonds and the most decorated runner in the bunch, former world champion Alfred Kirwa Yego.

Women's 100m Hurdles: The line up for this event is stellar. Sally Pearson, Danielle Carruthers, Kellie Wells, Dawn Harper, Perdita Felicien...this race can be likened to that of a world championships final. Pearson has a world lead of 12.46 and has thus established herself as the one to beat. Her last two victories in Lausanne and Birmingham show she is in tremendous form. Carruthers who has finished a close second on both occasions looks very sharp, especially in the last 30 metres and if Wells repeats the technical perfection she displayed at the U.S. trials, this could be anyone's race. My feeling is whoever manages to get to the first hurdle FIRST will be the winner. Pearson is too good a sprinter to be chased down.

Meet Info:
The meet is scheduled for July 22nd at the Louis II Stadium, it will take place one month ahead World Athletics Championships in Daegu (South Korea). For some athletes it will be the last rehearsal before heading to South Korea and Herculis being part of the Samsung Diamond League, elite circuit of athletics meets, most of the top stars will stop by Monaco on their way to Asia
